For Old Times' Sake

You said if we pedaled together,
our cruise along the seawall might get better

and even though it looked like a breeze,
before long I felt weak in the knees.

With a groan I said stop, I need out in a hurry;
we must return this absurd limo surrey.

Like a good friend, you finally obliged
as side by side we sauntered inside

a sidewalk cafe and ordered cheesecake,
chatted til dusk for old times' sake.

Prompt Inspiration:
3WW~ absurd, groan, weak

Nothing more enjoyable than a long chat with a good friend!

Not only did this leave me with a nostalgic smile on my face, but you've also saved me traipsing around three separate poems for various prompts! *big grin* I wish I could focus enough to do that! Brilliant write, Laurie! As always!

The cheesecake sounds good, but you'll have to do more peddling to burn off the calories.

So, let me see--what does make a cruise better? The chance to pedal or the rest and luscious food? Maybe the answer to that changes somewhere in our late 30s? Cute poem.

I enjoyed the warmth of this friendship and the humor. Oh yes, a friend is one you can say stop to.

Ah, the healing powers of cheesecake! A jaunty journey, Laurie. A bicycle poem build for two (lines - nice couplets!)

Sounds like a good time with a friend. I've pedaled one of those
before I remember it being very
warm that day.

Brings back memories of four friends riding this same type bicycle through the streets of Cape May, NJ.
Two of those four did not pedal!

Some things are harder then they look but friends always win when food and conversation are part of the adventure

Loved how the rhymes and couplets counterpointed the partnership of the friendship... Lovely!
